What To Do About Drain Sink Smells
A question that home owners often ask is, why does my sink drain smell? Drain odours typically happen in the kitchen or sometimes in a bathroom sink. What causes a drain to smell is typically small amounts of food particles or buildup that forms in a drain pipe just before the trap. It can also form in the overflow section of the drain system, the area that is not frequently used and doesn’t have water to flush away debris. If you have anything stuck in there, it is going to breakdown and give off a smell.
The first thing to do is use a ¼ cup of baking soda and a ¼ cup of white vinegar; mix them together and you notice that the mixture will start to bubble. This mixture is a great way to remove any debris and odours formulating in the drain. However, if the white vinegar and baking soda mixture doesn’t resolve the issue, call a professional plumbing company and they will be able to assist you.
