Must Have Tools for Every Homeowner’s Toolbox
A question that homeowners often ask is, what type of tools are required in a basic household toolbox? A few tools recommended for every homeowner to have in their toolbox, particularly when it comes to plumbing, includes a screwdriver with different attachments – flat head or Phillips. A screwdriver is a basic tool that will give you a good head start before having to call a plumber.
The second tool recommended is an adjustable wrench and pliers. Pliers will allow you to remove supply lines and tighten some of the connections on the drain side. An adjustable wrench is a tool that is used to attach or remove shower heads and components of a fixture that has a chrome or brass finish that can be damaged if not handled properly.
A third tool that is very useful and helpful is having a set of Allen key in your home. Allen keys are typically used for removal of shower handles, where the small screws at the bottom of the shower handle are not easily accessible or visible. Using an Allen key will help you to remove the shower handle and allow you access to the cartridge behind.
