How to Choose the Best Plumbing Fixtures
A question that home owners often ask is, what is the best fixture I can buy for my house? Regardless of whether you are looking for a shower faucet or a kitchen faucet, don’t go for the cheapest one. It is more likely for you to start running into problems and within a short period of time. You don’t have to go for the most expensive faucet either, as the most expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best made. I usually recommend for people to go for a middle priced faucet; that way you get the look and quality while being the best value for your money.
When buying fixtures, look for the components inside, not just the fit and finish on the outside. Depending on your taste and style, you may choose chrome, brush nickel, modern or traditional design, but it’s the components inside that actually make the faucet work well and last longer. When buying a facet, ask the professional at the store or a plumbing supplier about brass components and stainless steel lines; these materials will make your facet last longer. Keep in mind, if the faucet is very light, it usually contains more plastic components that will wear out quickly and cause leaks down the road. If the faucet is heavier, it obviously contains more durable and stronger components. These components will cost you more money initially but will last much longer.
